St. Paul's Bible Verse of the Week
He humbled you by letting you hunger, then by feeding you with manna... in order to make you understand that one does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

NRSV: No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.


CEB: But in all these things we win a sweeping victory through the one who loved us.


The NRSV is the New Revised Standard Version, which is the academic standard for biblical translation. The Common English Bible is a more accessible translation. Both are approved for use during worship in the Episcopal Church.

NRSV: Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.


CEB: Don’t fear, because I am with you; don’t be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will surely help you; I will hold you with my righteous strong hand.

Book of Common Prayer: I lift up my eyes to the hills; from where is my help to come? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.


CEB: I raise my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? My help comes from the Lord,the maker of heaven and earth.
