I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings. Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?
In all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.
Book of Common Prayer: Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
CEB: Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no danger because you are with me. Your rod and your staff—they protect me.
The Book of Common Prayer translation was updated for the 1979 prayer book. The Common English Bible is a more accessible translation. Both are approved for use during worship in the Episcopal Church.
